People have traveled all the time, and photographed many places along the way. But, in today's day and age, with social media on the rise, posting pictures on Instagram or Facebook has become a trend.. People post pictures that are followed by many other people in their networks. News spreads fast, impact is high, and quicker changes are possible today, that were unfathomable earlier. Some locations are indeed extremely picturesque, and today we will focus on ten of our favorites for you, and these are in no particular order.
1. Golden Gate Bridge, California
It is rare to see a human creation enhance the beauty of its environment, it is usually the opposite. Golden Gate Bridge is one such engineering marvel of its time by Strauss, Ellis, and Moisseiff, construction beginning about a century ago, and officially opening up in 1937. It stands there in suspension; proud, strong and graceful, and has become the icon of San Francisco, California. It is one-mile long and connects San Francisco with the neighboring Marine County. No one has passed through this area without giving homage to this bridge, and adding the bridge pictures to their collection. Because if you have posted a shot of you with the backdrop of the gorgeous Golden Gate Bridge, only then you can claim to have visited this area. It is definitely worth waiting for the golden hour (sunrise/ sunset) to capture an absolutely Instagrammable shot.
2. Grand Canyon, Arizona
Interested in a piece of geological history? Grand Canyon is the place to be with its red rock formation. Grand Canyon National Park was founded in 1917, and is one of the oldest national parks in the US. It is the home of the wondrous 1 mile gorge, or the Grand Canyon, formed by the Colorado River. It is considered worthy of being one of the seven wonders of the world by the locals, with its unique colors of geological red rocks and shapes created due to erosion over the years. For centuries, mules have been used to traverse areas in the Grand Canyon, and that is still offered today. You can take a tour of the Grand Canyon on the mules, it is definitely a unique experience. This is one place where you feel like you are in an other-worldly location, with its light play and color hues on rocks, it is an experience worth capturing and posting on Instagram. The Horseshoe Bend in Page, Arizona is the one most captured on Insta.
3. Lake Tahoe, California
The largest freshwater lake in the Sierra Mountains, on the border of California and Nevada. Lots of resorts have sprung up circling the lake, and with weather working in favor, it has become one of the most visited locations during both the summer, for its beaches and water activities; and during the winter - for its ski slopes, and snow activities. If you are able to snap pictures from high altitudes on the Sierra Mountains, you will see a big, beautiful, blue blob of water body surrounded by tall and granite, and yet green mountains. It is a breathtaking experience, and you recognize how big the universe is. This vast area of mountains and lake in the valley is definitely the most photographed and Instagrammed location ever.
4. Yosemite National Park, California
Do not miss the Half Dome in the golden hours, it is a sight worth experiencing and capturing. Half Dome and El Capitan are giant granite cliffs in the Sierra Mountains of California. The sun hits them in just the right angle, and there is your most Instagrammed shot of Yosemite. The tall, sky hugging Sequoia trees put you into a magical trance as you hike into the mountains to get your shots. It is best known for its waterfalls, and absolutely breathtaking landscape.
5. Mardi Gras, Louisiana
Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday in French) is a festival celebrated with full carnival excitement, beginning after the feasts of Christian Epiphany and ending the day before the first day of Lent. It follows the custom of the last day endorsing gluttony, consuming all kinds of rich foods and drinks, and hence the name. It is basically a full month of parties, with barely any discretion. Full of color, beads, happy faces, ruckus crowds, drinks and food - that is the famous Mardi Gras in New Orleans, at the end of which they go into fasting with Lent. A unique experience for sure, you will have loads of crazy, Instagrammable pictures to post. It attracts people from all over the world, generating more than 2 million tags on Instagram.
6. Waikiki, Hawaii
Honolulu is one of the biggest cities in Hawaii (capital of Hawaii), located in the Oahu Island. Waikiki is a beachfront neighborhood of Honolulu. It is an absolute paradise on Earth. Natural beauty at its peak, human intervention with resorts and more green plantations has made it even more ethereal. It is an unforgettable, soulful experience. How can you not capture this piece of heaven?
7. Times Square, New York
Fun fact - Times Square in New York was once called Longacre Square. The name changed in 1904, when The New York Times moved into the neighborhood. This is a central, and major intersection for everything commercial, a neighborhood in the midtown Manhattan section of New York City. Broadway Entertainment Shows, Tourist Destinations, Humongous flashing neon lights, giant digital colorful billboards, Times Square is definitely big, bright and unforgettable. No wonder so many people from all over the world try to capture its nighttime delight and post onto Instagram.
8. Las Vegas Strip, Nevada
What happens is Vegas….stays in Vegas… with some on Instagram. This desert is known for its nightlife, and extravagant casinos and hotel resorts. If you simply walk down on the long Las Vegas Strip, surrounded by the casinos and shows on both sides of the Strip, you cannot go wrong. The casinos are unlike anything you have ever experienced, the shows are mind boggling in its extravagance, and the flashing lights all around you create a rich, vibrant atmosphere. It is a piece of land where Nature has done nothing, it is all man made, and a wonder on its own. Is it so much of a surprise then, that the Las Vegas Strip has more than 3.6 million hashtags on Instagram?
9. South Beach, Florida
Keep on continuing to the southern tip of the Miami beach, and you will hit the South Beach in Florida. The 2-mile long swatches of beach after beach attracts people from all over the world, especially the Spring Breakers and people interested in partying. Undoubtedly, an Instagram worthy spot.
10. Disneyland, California
Last, but definitely not the least. The one place on Earth where dreams do come true, where you manifest the power of imagination. This Happiest Place on Earth, in Anaheim, California is one of the most instagrammed locations in the world, with 14.6 million tags. The magical home of the most famous cartoon character in the world, Mickey Mouse (in case you didn't get it) opened in 1955 under the direct supervision of the world's most imaginative creator, Walt Disney. Entertainment, rides, shops, fun, mystery and parks all merged into one, this unique place is not beyond a doubt, one of the most Instagrammed locations in the world.
Obviously, there are so many more locations in the USA that fit the category of most photogenic areas that have been Instagrammed forever. We just happened to choose our favorite top ten.
