There are a lot of people making plans to travel. Sometimes, it is a trip to a faraway, exotic place, and other times, it just might be a day trip to a nearby location. Sometimes, you may need to fly and make hotel reservations, and at other times, you might want to drive to a location and spend the night camping.
What is Camping?
Camping is an outdoor activity, you drive to a campground, set up your tent, create a bon-fire, cook up some yummy barbecue, turn up the music, and enjoy some fun time with yourself alone, or with a group of close friends. Ideally, the idea of camping comes from setting up camp overnight, with or without any shelter. When you spend the night outside your home in a tent or a rented cabin, or drive a recreational vehicle (RV) to camp in a designated area on a campground, all of these forms of spending the night can be constituted as camping. As you can see, there are many different methods of camping depending upon your tolerance and comfort level.
Experience camping within a tent.
There are enough people in the world, including kids, who love and enjoy this type of camping. You can buy a tent based on size, number of people etc. Tents are available to buy in many sports stores. Depending upon your size requirement, you might also need a basic air mattress, or a cotton mattress pad that can be used as a bed inside your tent. The other basic stuff like sheets and comforters will also be needed when you camp. Some people also make do with a sleeping bag, but that definitely gets uncomfortable over the night. The campground has its own public and common toilet area and bathrooms, which you can avail to shower, and other daily needs. These may not be extremely close to where you are camped, and night time visits to the bathroom may require yyou take a friend along. Usually, younger people love this kind of camping; but we truly believe it is an experience of a lifetime, and everyone should take a chance to camp this way at least once in their life. The bon-fire right outside the camps with friends, the basic cooking and the marshmallow roasts, the music and stories that everyone comes together to contribute to, all create an atmosphere which is not only a lot of fun, it is also unique. It is also extremely easy to just fold up the tent, and drive up or hike up to a small jungle area, and camp there. This is as close to Nature as you can imagine.
Experience camping in a Recreational Vehicle.
This is basically a vehicle that you can own or rent, simply load up with your luggage, and drive to your reserved spot on the campground of your interest. Many campgrounds cater to this kind of camping. In fact, there are campgrounds that have their RVs parked in different spots, which you could simply rent out for the night or more. Just drive your car to such a campground, park it in their parking lot, get instructions to your reserved RV spot. The advantage here is that you have your own personal bathroom and a little workable kitchen, as well as a bed. You can enjoy your hikes or any other planned outdoor activities during the day, have a bon-fire with music, dinner and marshmallows in the night, and go to bed inside your RV. Nighttime bathroom visits are also very comfortable.
People who have camped in tents do believe that RV does not really have the same experience as sleeping under the stars. That may be true, but it is really about the needs of the person camping. Those who prefer a little comfort, or those who have never camped in tents before, this is a good introduction to camping with a little more comfort along the way. If you are driving your own RV, you can still have RV parking spots reserved on different campgrounds, and enjoy the same atmosphere with friends and family.
Experience camping within a Cabin.
This is another form of camping that many people enjoy. Especially people who have never camped before, they tend to try this out first, before graduating to the more strenuous forms. These cabins are wood dwellings camped at spots edging river banks etc., and are about the same price of renting a decent hotel/ motel. It is basically just a room or two, with/ without bathrooms. Those without bathrooms would share a common bath area, and would be cheaper than the ones with bathrooms in it. The advantage is that you have full beds that allow you to stretch out after a really long day of hiking, biking, boating, fishing, swimming or anything else. The price range varies based on location of the cabins, the size and the availability of bathrooms. Lot of families with little kids love this setup.
Multiple families can form groups, and rent out individual cabins, and have all the traditional activities of bon-fire, cooking barbecue and roasting marshmallows after a full day of outdoor activities. There are some activities that campgrounds also provide, like a movie viewing, or a common barbecue etc., that you can avail of. There is usually no kitchen inside a cabin, so dinner has to be cooked outside. It gives you a unique experience of camping along with a little comfort for sleeping.
Depending upon your needs, you could camp in the most authentic way, by using a tent, and enjoying Nature so much more closer. You could also reserve a spot for your own or a rented Recreational Vehicle, and enjoy its benefit while camping. In fact, if you are pregnant, this is the ideal way to camp. It works for most types of people - kids, young, middle-aged or even elderly. It provides you with that comfort, while also giving you the camping experience. Renting a cabin is for relaxation, or if the weather is unpredictable.
Camping in general, is a unique form of exposure to Nature in itself, and however you choose to camp does not take away from that absolutely wonderful experience.
For those who have never camped, we would definitely recommend you try it. For those who are veterans at it, keep on keeping on!
